Last September at OTSN*, I
was thrilled to find this shelf sized diorama hiding in the corner
of a dealer's room. It was made for photographing. Once
I photographed it, I put it on ebay and it didn't come close to what
I gladly paid for it. If it captures your imagination and you
want to play with it, I'll let it go for $125.00. There are
five mounted Herald and Swoppet indians and the stage coach.
The original owner did a great job painting it. The driver has a
broken arm.
OTSN is the Old Toy
Soldier Newsletter Show that is held every September in Schaumburg,
Illinois. It is the biggest and best Toy Soldier show in the
country. The show itself is held on a Sunday, but the real
action takes place in the Hotel itself starting the Wednesday before
the show. Dealers come in and display their wares in their
rooms. The hotel is transformed into a toy soldier
mall. The first time I wandered the halls of the
Hyatt for this "Room Trading", I felt very uncomfortable. Now
such a weird activity seems perfectly normal. Another sure
sign of Playset Addiction. |
